Interested in lending a hand?
Love animals or horses?
If you answered “yes” to both questions, the Bethlehem Police Mounted Patrol Unit is always looking for interested citizens willing to help us. Be it feeding and mucking stalls or assisting us at events with merchandise sales, we would appreciate any volunteer time you may be willing to give.
Currently, we have a need for a core group of steady volunteers willing to donate their time on both weekends and early mornings throughout the week to assist in feeding the horses and maintaining the stalls. Prior horse experience is extremely helpful but not necessary. If you or anyone you know might be interested in helping care for our horses please fill out the Volunteer Form and either email with all stated required documents to us at mountedpatrol@bethlehem-pa.gov or mail it to Mounted Patrol Unit, 10 E. Church St. Bethlehem, PA 18018.
If you are interested in lending a hand and do not have the time to volunteer but you own, or know someone who owns, horses and are looking to clean out the barn…Check out our following wish list/needed items list and let us know what you are willing to donate.
1) 5 Gallon, flat backed water buckets.
2) Field halters (Large horse/draft sizes), preferably the break-away type.
3) We are in need of plastic shopping bags, preferably the type that decompose rapidly, for the removal of our partner’s manure while on patrol. We prefer to place said manure in a bag that will not harm the environment. Also, anyone who is interested in manure for compost or fertilizer please stop by Burnside Plantation and help yourself. Our manure storage is located inside the initial turn-around in the parking lot.
