Retired Horses – Hanging up their horse shoes

Raven

Raven was one of the two original horses acquired in May 2009. Raven came to us from a horse broker in Canada along with his half brother Hamlet. Hamlet was replaced by George in the March of 2010. Raven’s previous career was as a member of a two horse carriage team. Raven is a Friesian/Quarter Horse cross. With his original purchase being funded by a Federal Grant, the Friends of the Bethlehem Mounted Police ponied up the money required to purchase Raven from the City of Bethlehem and officially retire him in the fall of 2015. The money used to purchase Raven from the City then went back into the Mounted Patrol Unit’s wish fund. Raven is enjoying his retirement relaxing on a 180 acre farm, 25 acres of which are dedicated strictly to grass grazing turnout, in Fleetwood, PA where the Unit often holds training. Don’t tell Pharaoh, he’ll be jealous.

Hamlet

Hamlet and Jeff

Hamlet joined the Bethlehem Mounted Patrol as one of the two original horses purchased in 2009. After a short evaluation period it was determined that he was better suited for other endeavors than being a police horse. Hamlet was replaced by George in March 2010.
