The Bethlehem Mounted Patrol Unit, along with the Friends of the Bethlehem Mounted Police, are excited to share important news with all of our friends, fans, and supporters. After careful planning and considerable effort over the past two years, we are finally able to announce that the Friends of the Bethlehem Mounted Police has begun a capital campaign to fund a new stable facility located on E. Langhorne Ave. by the Holy Savior Cemetery.
This campaign, affectionately titled “A Stable Future,” will, with your help, provide the Bethlehem Mounted Patrol Unit’s horses a safe, healthy place to live, train, and work, well into the future. It is also with great gratitude that we announce the generous companies that have stepped forward already to assist in the effort. Our naming sponsor, Quadrant Private Wealth, is joined by Air Products & Chemicals, Straight Arrow Inc. makers of the Original Mane ‘n Tail and Cowboy Magic, Just Born Quality Confections, the R.K. Laros Foundation, the Bethlehem Parking Authority, The Philadelphia Trust, and Altronics Security Systems as sponsors and contributors to the new stable. A special “Thank You” to the Diocese of Allentown for offering to help with 10 acres of land!

It’s official! The Bethlehem Mounted Patrol Unit’s Adopt-A-Horse program has once again successfully sponsored Raven, Pharaoh, and George for 2015. The Officers, the horses, and the Friends of the Bethlehem Mounted Police would like to thank our Adopt-A-Horse sponsors for this year! Raven will again be sponsored by the Jefferson Democratic Club (2nd year), George will again be sponsored Maria’s Farm Country Kitchen (3rd year), and Pharaoh will again be sponsored by Just Born (4th year).
Interested in a future horse sponsorship or supporting the Mounted Patrol Unit through additional sponsorship opportunities? Contact the Unit at email@example.com or the Friends of the Bethlehem Mounted Patrol Unit at friendsoftheBMP@gmail.com . We are developing a list of folks who are interested in helping, including any future replacement horses that will allow for the opportunity to name the new horse.
On Saturday, September 20th, George and Pharaoh attended the Rodale Institute’s Organic Apple Festival. During the visit, George had the pleasure of meeting his Adopt-A-Horse sponsor for the last two years. Through her blog, Maria’s Farm Country Kitchen, Ms. Rodale has generously sponsored George since 2013. George and the rest of the Mounted Unit wanted to extend a big “thank you” for her generosity and gave Ms. Rodale a small token of our gratitude. Thanks again to Maria’s Farm Country Kitchen!

It is with tremendous gratitude that the Bethlehem Mounted Patrol Unit announces George’s sponsorship through our Adopt-A-Horse program for 2013. Maria’s Farm Country Kitchen will adopt George! We appreciate Maria Rodale’s adoption of George this year through her blog and look forward to the continued partnership in the future. Ms. Rodale’s generosity allows us to minimize the impact of the cost of the horses on the tax payers.
If you, or your company, are interested in donating to support the police horses please check out our “Community Patrons” page for details about our Giving Club program or click on the “donate” button on the side of the page to make a donation through PayPal.
Thanks again Maria’s Farm Country Kitchen and Ms. Rodale! George appreciates your support.
It is with great pleasure and sincere gratitude that the members of the Bethlehem Police Mounted Patrol Unit announce the purchase of a new truck to be used as the primary hauler for the Unit’s trailer. The new truck, a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD crew cab, allows for increased towing capacity, heavy duty brakes, and increased occupancy while replacing the Unit’s thirteen year old existing hauler. It allows for safer towing of the Unit’s three horse trailer and eliminates the need for using an additional police vehicle when going to public events with the horses by increasing from a two to a six passenger truck. The truck was purchased entirely through organization and corporate donations by the following donors.
- Air Products Inc.
- Lafayette Ambassador Bank
- Capital Blue Cross
- Lehigh University
- Brown Daub Chevrolet
- The Bethlehem Rotary Club
- Embassy Bank
Without the help of these businesses and organizations, the Unit would have been unlikely to add a new truck anytime in the near future. We look forward to working with all the donors in the future and again thank them for their commitment to the Bethlehem community. Their donations help keep Bethlehem safe one hoof at a time.
The new truck, see below photos, is painted and decal’d in the retro black and white paint scheme matching several existing and all new police fleet vehicles. The following photos are before and after.
The unveiling of the new truck will take place Monday, April 8th at 11:30 am in front of Bethlehem City Hall, 10 E. Church St. Please join Mayor John Callahan, Police Chief Jason Schiffer, Raven, Pharaoh, and George in thanking our wonderful sponsors and supporters.
It is with tremendous gratitude that the Bethlehem Mounted Patrol Unit announces another continued sponsorship through our Adopt-A-Horse program. Again in 2013, Air Products will adopt Raven! We appreciate Air Products’ adoption of Raven the last two years and look forward to the continued community partnership in the future. Air Products’ generosity allows us to minimize the impact of the cost of the horses on the tax payers.
Sponsorship for George is available as the previous year sponsor did not wish to renew their sponsorship. If you, or your company, are interested in donating to support the police horses please check out our “Community Patrons” page for details about our Adopt-A-Horse and Giving Club programs.
Thanks again Air Products!
